Have a few articles in the works which are…

…ones that require some background research and structure going into them.

“Bringing the paranormal, down to ground level”  The intention is to explore areas of the unexplained and bring some rationale to them.

Extraordinary claims require extraodrinary evidence words spoken by Carl Sagan. Is quite simply the most honest and firm statement that we explorers of the unexplained, should hold as our beacon up to.

“What were our ancestors describing?”

We look at the accounts of our ancestors, from the recent past to the anicent ages where our forefathers wrote some incredible accounts of strange beasts, flying cities, beings with fantastical powers. Looking at the reports that are “off the beaten” track, of the usual examples.

Are paranormal investigators their own worst enemy?

To their credit a number of groups and organizations have a sense of professional understanding, in their approach and the ethical stance they have in dealing with people, their residences and businesses’ with respect. Its a common topic with other researchers and investigators involved in areas of the unexplained, that most of the other groups are doing it badly. No wonder theres very little communication, is it a belief that no-one else is doing the right thing, so “we” should just continue doing “our” own thing. We are in the process of setting up some interviews with investigation teams for a informal chat about their views of the paranormal landscape.

Reflections of inspiration

Growing up, most influences come from the family and the people we interact with, friends, teachers, neighbours and those we see on the television. The late great Carl Sagan was an indirect inspiration. That is I kept hearing his words growing up, without realising who he was. As I came through into adolescence every boy dreams of going into space, I would read books, scan the newspapers for space and technology news to the bemusement of many others at school. While also paying increasing attention to books of archaeology. National Geographic, Readers Digest, Osbourne books and the like.

One particular book called Mystic Places Mysteries of the unknown published by Readers Digest in 1988 which my mother brought stands out in my memory. stonehenge_strasserMust have read that book a thousand times. Vivid images of the mysteries of Stonehenge, Mary Celeste, the flying Dutchman, close encounters – indeed a picture was an artists impression of a silver-suited humanoid figure with large eyes looking through the car window at a terrified elderly couple haunted me for years, Mystic Places was my first encounter with what is known as the Ancient Alien theory. Including a detailed graphic of the sarcophagus lid from Palenque in central America, which took many years to excavate the earth which filled a single staircase going into the pyramid. The lid depicts what appears to be a figure, sat inside of a flying apparatus, his hands and feet manipulating instruments and complete with fiery exhaust.

At primary school where I attended Highlees Primary in Peterborough, in Year 4 (I was 8-9) my teacher was a wonderful middle-aged well spoken woman called Mrs Green and the adjacent classroom run by Mrs Jewitt would get together on a Friday afternoon. Bringing together the students and tell us a mystery and allow active discussion with the students. Stories such as the Bermuda celesteTriangle, Mary Celeste, the U.S.S. Aldridge, Life on other planets and what it would be like, the pyramids of the Giza plateau. I am ever grateful for this time, can be certain that in todays education allows not room for critical thinking and open discussion of topics considered fringe – despite their place in the psyche, embedded into history and their yearning to be talked about.

As a child, prior to the discovery of books, the first source of an unusual encounter was from my mother, she would tell me of a vivid spectral visit she would experience regularly when she was around 12. My mother is the eldest of 4 children of Madge and Stanley Lander. My grandfather Stanley was in the forces as a young man, a chauffeur and driver to top brass. With the family growing up, he resigned during the late 60s. They moved to Turves, a village of only 16 houses of the time either side of a B road leading out of Peterborough towards Cambridge. They had made a swap with one of my Granddads friends in the Army, whose father was seeking a move. As his wife had recently passed away and the house too big, but perfect for Madge, Stanley and the 4 children. An ideal swap. Without going into a lot of detail. My mother would tell me, that during the night her door would open and being a light sleeper she would wake up to ask who it was, thinking it was her mother. This happened frequently. She also began to notice jewellery would disappear from her jewellery box on the mirrored dresser. One particular night, she woke up to find an elderly lady sitting on the bed. Mum said the lady said, “Don’t worry, I’m just doing the cleaning, just having a rest”. Mum described her vividly, was very keen to state she was as real as anyone else, and had touched her. She wore her grey hair in a bun, a polar jumper, a pinafore apron and a pair of checked slippers with fluffy pompoms on them. Upon telling the family in the morning, she was laughed at and no one believed her. It was noticed a handprint was left on the mirror of the dresser. Jewellery box open, and a number of jewellery were missing a St Christopher necklace, a mother of pearl necklace and a charm bracelet.  No-ones hand matched up to the print and no-one would own up to the jewellery. r5024_y

Stanleys friends father Albert Palmer, whom the house was owned by previously would come over for Sunday dinner every week. The topic came up at the dinner table. When asked to describe the elderly lady, the friend was unanimous that it was a perfect description of his late wife. The following weekend, Albert came over again – bringing with him something quite unexpected. In Mrs Palmer Jewellery box, it was discovered to be the missing items from my mothers jewellery box. Whether the visits were the result of an over active imagination of a 12 year old girl, a dream which the brothers, her mum and dad had neatly labelled the encounters under. Jewellery somehow was transported from a house in Whittlesey to a residence in Grantham, which is around 30 miles away.

Suitably programmed to be looking into the curious from a young age. However the story of the spectral elderly lady was a huge impression, it’s not necessarily in the way you may imagine. My first question once I had heard the story when around 6, was regarding the jewellery. “How did the jewellery leave the “house?” My mind as immature as it was at the time devoid of the greater wide view of the world, was looking at the solid object and considering how it passes through the walls of a house. In my mind, I was seeing the image of the jewellery passing through the walls and across the landscape. Was it teleported? The handprint on the mirror, how and why did a ghost leave something well… physical.

It is the questions of the hows and whys does it happen, that are the most interesting. Which these are questions that run through my mind, when someone tells of an occurrence. Take for an example of the 8 common phenomena of a phantom hitchhiker. Why would an apparition appear at the side of a road? Then there’s the physical impression they have, they physically interact with the door, the car light when the door is open is “on” the person this means the photons were being reflected off something physical,  how did they have mass as they sat down in the car, have a “solid” appearance, then a short way down the road they disappear from the seat.

Often I’m asked “How do i become a investigator?”, “What do I have to do to become a researcher?” of which the answer is, build your knowledge base. How can one give structured sound advice, if one does not know the information surrounding the questions being asked.

In the last couple of years, we’ve somewhat stepped away from active investigations. But have become more an observer and trying to gain insight into the actions of alleged investigators. For instance, why are they using “x” piece of equipment? What data do they hope to gather? Of the data gathered during an investigation whether, video, audio, photographic, device data and recorded information how is this analysed? Is it available for review by external professionals? What are the groups intentions for the recorded data. Why is where we are today with Projects like Project WIRGOOT aiming to survey how groups conduct investigations, and what is done with the information gathered.

Giving presentations and talks around the county. Focusing as well on other aspects of the unexplained, rather than just ghosts, because there is more to the paranormal than just ghostbusting.

Dr Armen Victorian – Mind Controllers book just arrived. Worked at ASDA, Hyson Green.

Dr Armen Victorian… a enigmatic individual linked with the Ministry of Defence, the CIA and in particular mind and behaviour control experiments. Who happened to work briefly as it seems at ASDA in Hyson Green, Nottingham. His book Mind Controllers published by Vision press a few years ago came through my door yesterday.

2011-12-06 22.24.04

How this person who went by the pseudonim “Henry X” came to be known tp me, is when a chat with a colleague name dropped him in conversation, then he explained that he worked at the store. He asked me to go find out more information, which I did. I had heard of Henry X but nothing more than a passing name in various files and articles regarding ufology some years before. Armen Victorian had history with the Ministry Of Defence, Central Intelligence Agency and many high level intelligence organizations. He is allegedly known to have people on the inside of the government and private agencies, leaking information as it were, which according to website henryxfiles had him brought up in court on treason charges, afterwards he couldn’t secure work – however ASDA did.

Armen Victorian is actually someone who has put more requests in with the Freedom of information act in US and Great Britain, more than anyone else in the world.

He discovered and has published dossiers on experimentation of pregnant women, school children, prisoners and military veterans who have been subjected to exploitation and has assembled documented proof of their occurrence and initiation.

The book “Mind controllers” covers many of these documents many of which involve remote viewing, psychokinetics, telepathy training which the CIA and British Intelligence became heavily involved with, after discovering during the Cold war Russia was researching the fields of parapsychology and mind control.

I am going to be reading this pretty much from today. and will give you my views of the book when i have done.

The curious case of Gary T. Wilcox and the close encounter with beings learning about agriculture and farming.

The fascinating case of Gary T. Wilcox comes from 1964, it is a story I read during my early days of research. It was at one time a frequently referenced case which has been forgotten to passage of time. A view of a popular website, saw the story brought back to the light. Which we will now revisit.  Continue reading

Did I just experience “missing time”?

A curious phenomenon, spoke of by many – “the missing time” experience. Have spoke to some who claim to had this happen. And any reader of paranormal literature or viewer of a number of documentaries and TV shows will know – it often is associated with alien abduction. While I don’t believe I was abducted (my rectum feels just fine). The surreal-ness of the awareness of the passage of time is an incredibly strange sensation. When did this happen? you may ask – less than 20 mins ago of the initial time of posting. As a researcher and investigator of the unexplained, my task right now is to cover the bases and go over the details, try and find the crack as they say

The story and experience is such, I came home from work got in about 3.35pm-3.40pm. Sylvia my partner in crime was just about to get ready to leave for work which she did at 3.47pm and I recall this because I read her the time from the computer screen, when she asked. Sylvia then leaves the place. I pick up a few bits from the sofa, answer a text from my sister and ready to get on with some design work. Head into the bedroom to get changed out uniform into civvies. I recall moving a few bits on the floor and standing up changing my shirt and trousers to jeans. I hear a high pitch sound – similar to an old fashioned kettle with a whistle but higher, a persistent sound. I know recall as I am writing moving to turn around to look at the bedroom door. I am not tired, far from it.

Next thing I remember is I am shivering, bitterly cold, teeth are chattering and I know i’m lying down on the bed, it is dark. Feels like I am coming out of sleep as im moving my arm around trying to find the blanket, like you do in the morning or when the blanket has been tugged away – my alertness kicks in. I realize I am lying on top of the bed, diagonally feet to bottom left. head to top right. I jump up from the bed and see outside the window it really is dark, so my instinct is directing me to know the time my phone reads 18.57! Its been over 2 hours!
I come in the living room, got to kitchen put kettle on and attempt to get warm by putting fire on. Then I came to post this

well that was just plain surreal – got home from work, sylvia was just leaving. this was about 345. I remember going into bedroom, a strange sound, like a high pitch whine next thing i know its 7pm. I’ve got some disorientation going on. I assume I fell asleep, but wasn’t tired and don’t recall going to sleep.

I have no recollection of the passage of time, for the 2 hours – I wasn’t tired and no intention of going to sleep. The transition of time was virtually instantaneous. Being in bedroom getting changed to waking up freezing cold. The sound is puzzling it was a single note of high pitch. I have no history of tinnitus albeit sometimes I can hear a similar sound generated occasionally by TVs.

I must put forward the surreal sensation after wards was very well surreal.

Journal of a paranormal researcher – Passing off what isn’t yours

My mind ponders how many people have been approached by others with details and information that is not thiers, but they claim outright that it is. Probably copied from the web from a book or tv show plot.

Is it human nature that we want to impress others with our wares. Like a courting ritual for acceptance and proof of experience. However once the cat is out of the proverbial bag and the truth brought to light, it can make even a genuine well to do person appear as a fraud and unlikely afterwards to be taken as serious. Journal of a paranormal researcher

Hunting! what do you mean by that?
Browsing the facebook and Twitter updates of recent weeks, something that frustrates me and those who know is "Ghost hunters" "Ghost Busters" "Ghost Breakers" all these terms conjure the thought that Paranormal Researchers and Field investigators can Hunt, Bust and Break spirits of the deceased. Which is damn right wrong. Firstly really to "Hunt" implies like Fox hunting and Witch hunting that we the Ghost Hunters are going to chase and hunt the ghost and kill it. just like the Fox and Witch when the chase has concluded. I suppose the sarcastic point here is that they are already dead. so kinda defeats the object.

To play devils advocate lets say spirit entities exist are trying to contact to a family member or friend or someone to give them a message and it turns out to be their Grandmother of the person experiencing the phenomenon. Ghost Hunters/Busters/Breakers implies they are going to "get rid" of thier Grandmother… just how silly does that sound?

However more often than not in a number of the phone calls I’ve had from people who are reporting ghostly experiences to themselves or those around them. "Can you get rid of it?" often pops up in the conversation.

The silver screen characters Peter Vekeman, Ray Stanz, Winston Zedamore and Egon Spengler capture "evil" spirits and store them in a containment facility… It’s this image that the "public" who call Paranormal Investigators have of what we do, like exterminators on call. They expect equipment that captures ghosts and takes them with them, so they can lead a happy life and the rodent…well ghost in this case has been captured or destroyed.

Thoughts of a paranormal researcher

admittedly this was written on the 9th may – but it was not mirrored here until now.

I want to share some off the wall thoughts of my journey into the truths of the paranormal.

The amount of people on the same journey is astounding. All doing it in their own way. Many of had their falling apple to the head moments where an incredible piece of the jigsaw fits in and the eyes are opened. From my observations the people i talk to and the thoughts shared the paranormal breaks into multiple camps those that BELIEVE, those that are on the fence going hmm interesting and those that flat out do not believe but know something is happening, those who debunk the list goes on and is full of varying grey areas of believing certain bits and not others.

Plus each camp has it factions thore who talk with others thore who dont those who have their way of working those with procedures. Its basically a huge huge tangled mess whilst even myselfcannot stand on a soapbox and say my way is THE way. For those outside looking at getting on the paranormal bandwagon. The one most important piece of advice i can give you is research. Learn and know what you are talking about- at least gain a level of comptentance and knowledge dont give advice is what you dont know about.

Day by Day

Well, there hasn’t really been all that much to report resently, save that we’ve been interviewing quite a few people who are potentially looking at joining the NPN group. They’ve all got their own particular talents to bring in to the team and we certainly look forward to working with them very soon. Kristian tells me there are a few potential cases that might need our attention however, so we should get busy with those soon, just need to do the initial interview and lookover with those affected.

Next up though is a PIGE, we haven’t done one of those for a while so we’ve been thinking of doing one, partly to help keep us on our toes and also to see if there really is anything going on in the location we pick.

See you all next time
